Without a doubt, the hobby of raring and racing homing pigeons can be one of the most addictive past-times that anyone can venture into. Not only do you get sucked in by these beautiful birds, you almost always feel the need to test them through competition. In fact, many people return to flying birds after decades of absence from the sport. I am one of those people. If that isn’t all, I have known many people, both men and women, who for the first time, ventured into the sport when they were well past 50 years old. Some have said that they can’t believe that they missed out on such a beautiful sport for their entire lives.
Is Pigeon Racing Expensive?
Pigeon racing is a simple sport that requires a lot of time and dedication if it is to be done correctly. And although it can be done quite modestly and at very little cost, often times fanciers spend quite a chunk of change ensuring that they have the best of everything for their flock. The truth is, successful pigeon racing can be achieved by every day regular fliers and without much expenditure. Some fanciers believe that in order to get good fliers, they have to spend a lot of money. That’s far from the truth. Having good birds may just come down to knowing good bird-men! In fact, just recently someone won a big One Loft Race with a pigeon that didn’t even have a performance pedigree.
