Our Young Bird Race series takes place each fall, usually starting around mid-September. These races normally span over a 6-8 week period. Our first race is 100 miles, after which we increase the distance by 50 miles each week until the distance reaches 300-350 miles. At times, if the weather does not allow, we adjust the schedule to suit. Doing so usually extends the race season by a week or two, but our first priority is to protect our birds to ensure that we have the highest rates of returns. Our members believe that the greatest injustice that can be done to our flocks is to fail them. We believe that given every chance, a good bird will come home.
